hello friends !

Well its almost 6 days now that i have ran my first full marathon in mumbai and the memories are so fresh, that i decided to share with you all guys.

i did my full marathon in 4:46:22 and i can not belive my self that it was my first ever full marathon in mumbai after running all scmm since 2004 in half marathon.I was just wondering why i took almost more than 8 years to decide that i want to run full? It was because i was afraid of getting injured or fear of not able to cope with the training scedule.I now feel that i was wrong in holding my self from running full marathon,as i now feel that any runner who can run for atleast 10km at one go , can run full marathon for sure. It is just that you require metal strength and the will power to do so.

Having decided to run full in scmm 2013 last year only when i was running  my last half scmm 2012 as a 2.30 hr pacer.I declared the same to my friends who were practising with me for 2.30 hrs half and i was suprised that many of the runners from my bus, decided to join me for the full next year.So it was almost like the whole bus who were running with me in 2.30 hrs had decided to run full in 2013 and i was so much over joyed by having company of so many of my runner friends practising with me for there first ever full.

So immediately after scmm 2012 our group practice started for our dream run. i am very lucky to have borivali natinal park (BNP) near my house where i could do all my sunday long run along with my group of friends , we are normally more than 10 runners who run together and it was very much fun.We used to go regularly to Nike run club every saturday at Kandivali where we had dan sir to guide us with our run and core strength.

On the race day i was very relaxed and was happy to see runners from all walks of life and different parts of world at the start line and i was remembered of the famous word of "Vasudev Kutumba" means The whole world is my family and i belong to them.it was truly a feeling of global citizen and a part of a great global event.thanks scmm for bringing such a great event in amchi mumbai.Decided to run with my buddy Dhanraj who had ran with me in all my long runs. Decided to run easy along with the other runners and take it easy for the first 10 km. I was remembered of the word "sangha chatwam "lets us all move together towards the finish line.I was feeling little cold because of the chill wind blowing at nariman point and was very comfortable upto 21 km which i did in 2:20 hrs as per my plan.At 21km i told dhanraj and savio who were running with me that the marathon starts now, upto 21 km we were just doing warm up and that our actual run of scmm 2013 starts now after running 21km when we reached bandra towards mahim church.

I was suprised that my pace had increased after 22km towards hinduja hospital and i was wondering from i am getting all these enery from? i was having gu gel after every 45 mines and was very much in target time upto 28 km, from there dhanraj decided to slow down and savio decided to increase his speed so i was all alone after 28 th km and was constant in my pace.I was suprised to see so many runners after 30km who were way ahead of me slowing down and was worried about my legs.Luckly i was going strong and after 32 km i decided to listen music as i was running all alone.started taking 1 km at a time and was monitoring my garmin for my pace and had decided not to allow my average pace to go down below 6:40. at 34 km decided to walk down the entire route of peddar road and it took me 8:30 min for covering 1 km of that route. But again i started my run and was constant in my pace and comfortably completed in 4:46:22 my first mumbai full.

To be very frank i am my myself surprised that my body could cover the whole distance with such a easy, believe me its all there up inside the mind, if the mind says you can do it. then there is nothing which can stop it.

Running has helped me a lot,by making me a very positive person and my YES mind is always looking for new and new challenges now.

Friends the reason i want to share with you my experience is because i strongly feel that all of us are having capability and capacity to be a marathoner , it is just a matter of looking inside and training in right direction which can make it happen for all of us.i would be very happy if i could inspire at least few more runners to run full marathon and feel the joy and ecstasy which distance runner experience after there ultra run.

I was lucky to meet Mr.Fauja shing immediately after finishing my run and was able to take his blessings by touching his feet.It really made my run so special and memorable for rest of my life.
