Profile Information

How often do you run?
A few times a week
Where do you run?
Sundays are for long runs at Cubbon, tuesday/wed for speed runs at Kanteerva and thurs/fri for tempo on the treadmill. Night runs are nice too in the locality inner roads, and luckily i love doggies
Why do you run?
Basically running started for staying fit as contact sports meant bringing injury into the work place; And now I run to assess my standard at a global level
What is the longest distance you have ever run?
52k at the Bangalore Ultra - believe better to achieve immediate goals at the half and full marathons before looking at Ultra distances, or the Triathlon
What is your personal best timing? (please mention the distance and time)
39 minutes for 10k recently - target is 36 eventually
1.25 for half - need to do a 1.24 soon and a sub 1.20 some day
2.58 - 37.5k trail
3.03 for full marathon - need to do a 2.59 soon and a 2.40 some day
4.17 for 50k trail - need to do sub 4.00

and, then gun for Triathon since i can do all three activities but after running goals are achieved

Energy Source across a Marathon

Posted on May 8, 2011 at 17:12 6 Comments

We all know about how the runners body utilises glycogen stores which, depending on how much you have managed to load, will support you for about 90 minutes. Then, the body will dip into fat reserves for energy.

Across the past month or so, I was getting my Body Fat Analysis done, and the results post the recent Boston Marathon was an eye opener.

* My usual Body Fat % is around 10.5% - as reflected in Mid March data.

* With peak marathon training, this…

Airtel Delhi Half Marathon - the Gods smiled

Coming just a week after the BangaloreUltra, one had some doubts about the wisdom of doing it but it was part of the game plan. To be able to assess one's readiness, see if the body was capable of a strong paced run over a decent distance - 21.1k. Yes, to assess if the new training approach was working

Unlike previous years when one did a lot of running, and participated in the longer distance early in the season, the approach this year was to build up gradually. The fact is…

StanChart Mumbai Marathon 2009

Strange are the ways of Race organisers.

Common sense states that "chip" timings are the true timing of a runner and not the gross timing as runners cross the starting point at different timines dependent on the crowd..

Going by chip timings, i come 1st in my category at Mumbai Marathon, but given that i started nearly 8 minutes behind the clock, i lose to another runner by gross timings by a minute and get 2nd place

"as per IAAF rules" is what i am told -… Continue

make it tougher

Posted on December 30, 2008 at 17:35 4 Comments

Cant help thinking that it would be nice to truly do a challenging event; if a triathon is not around in india to do, then maybe a tougher course for an ultra. Not merely running around a track, or even the ONV trail, but a terrain that actually stretches 100k....
