Great to see more and more female runners here in India!!! To encourage even more women to take up running, we have started RunnerGirlsIndia (RGI), India´s first club for women runners of all shapes, ages, sizes and athletic ability (from absolut novices to experienced long-distance runners). For more info, please visit www.runnergirlsindia.com. We would love for you to join us!
We have three online communities. One right here on RFL (Go to Groups -> RunnerGirlsIndia, click on Join RunnerGirlsIndia.), one on google groups at
http://groups.google.com/group/rgl-forum/post?hl=en-GB
and one more on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=6329129500.
If you are here in Bangalore, you can join us for our fortnightly runs at Cubbon Park. We meet at about 6.30 am and will be there till 8.00 am when we head off to breakfast somewhere.
Hi Kiranmayee,
Good to know it is your new found hobby - but dont say "quite late in life". Nothing is too late - and it is Never Too Late.
Am 50++ years and still running. Started running AFTER I was 50 years.
In 2007 I stood 6th (All India Veteran's Meet). In 2008 stood 14th at the same meet.
Have run 3 Half Marthons (all when I was OVER 50years) with a best timing of 1hr. 54mins. 18secs. Stood 18th (both years 2008, 2009) in the Mumbai International Half Marathon and 21st in 2007. Check out my profile here on the RFL for more details.
Will be doing the Full Marathon in Jan. 2010 (once again Mumbai).
Have made a huge amount of friends in Bangalore. I want to be there someday and compete with you young guys and gals.
So, go Kiran go - you're doing wonderful well. Keep in touch if you want any advice.
