Training in Mumbai

Training in Mumbai -

Mumbai probably has the most number of runners, thanks the indomitable spirit of Mumbaikars and also because one of the best mass running events in the country is held there. Here are some of the people who can train you in Mumbai -

Nike Run Club -

Started in 2009, Nike Run Club is already turning out to be a popular training facility in Mumbai. The runners getting trained there swear by the place. The training is free and is open for most of the year (not during the monsoons).

Training at NRC involves -

  • Sessions every Saturday
  • Professional coaches at Police Gymkhana for guidance
  • Warm up exercises at Police Gymkhana
  • Run on Marine drive
  • Limber down after the run

All you need to do is show up on any Sunday to Police Gymkhana at 6:00 AM and register.

Note: There is a running group in this website which has runners training under Nike Run Club Mumbai. Click here to join them.

Striders -

A group of trainers who started helping runners in 2004 and have been going strong since then. Now they have centers in Mumbai, Thane and Pune. The coaches are passionate about their role in the running movement and it shows through in their training sessions. Here is the website for more details -

Savio D'Souza -

This is a one man training outfit but a very popular one in Mumbai. Savio is an ex-Indian national marathon champion himself who has now dedicated himself to get others to run better. He trains a group of people at Marine Drive, Priyadarshini Park and Mahalaxmi Race course. All his trainees swear by his training and have been doing very well at Half and Full Marathons. Savio is not very web savvy but coordinates with his runners by phone. You can get in touch with him on 022-22061947. He is aailable only post 9:00 PM.
