RFL has held several successful events over the past six years and this is what we believe is the key
- Early planning: You will need at least a month of planning before registrations open. Planning includes formulating a budget for the event, finalizing the route, assembling point and sponsors.
- Early announcement: Registrations for any event that exceeds 10k need to
be announced at least 3 months in advance as runners will need at least 3 months to train for longer distances.
- A good website with all the relevant details, route information, online registrations, FAQs is a must. First impressions matter!
- A good and accurately measured route which takes into consideration factors such as heat, traffic, inclines and feasibility of support till the last runner finishes needs to be planned.
- Good communication channels with your participants from the time they register till the time they receive their certificates/medals is crucial.
- Good PR mechanism to ensure that the participants feel special and others feel like they would want to participate in the future. It is also a key component that sponsors will evaluate before deciding if the partnership should continue.
- Race day logistics: A timely start, good facilities at the venue, good route support, ample reserves at aid stations and quick announcements of results are what make or break an event.
