The Nike Run Club is planning an independence day run (max 10K) on 15th August. Please state your suggestion of a safe venue / location by posting it under "discussions" titled the same as the above subject.
Please note that the location should have an assembly area that can hold about 30 - 40 runners.

I would suggest a run from NCPA to Kemp's Corner and back. This would probably be around 10K
Dan - The service road on the Eastern Express Highway from Gandhi Nagar Flyover to Ghatkopar flyover is exactly 5km. So a return would be 10k. The service road is empty in the mornings and safe.

Also BNP has a 10 k track that you know.
@ Ganesh - the run to Kemps corner will involve traffic management as we have older runners as well as children.

@ Ashok - Yes, I agree BNP is a good venue and is 10K and safe.
@dan i feel bnp is any time great to run cause no traffic before 7.30 am and very less pollution.bnp rocks any time.
we have marking for 5 k as well and the seneery will be great.only those not having bnp pass can enter from teenmurty side and we can assembel at gandhi tekkdy as well.if decided we can always disucss the logistic part.
Yeah, but BNP on 15th August will be a messy affair, because being free that day and a holiday, the no. of people thronging the forest will be too many, which is why we had discounted that date for our half-marathon there.

NCPA to wilson college is 4 kms one way, if we can find another 2 kms somewhere maybe from Colaba or up the Malabar Hill, then it would be the best option.
@ram in that case can we do it in arrey?10k our std loop. what say?
You are right Kaushik. AAREY has everything; an assembly area which can be new zealand hostel grounds, it is safe, beautiful and a loop is 10K. Well, lets wait for the others to comment.
@ Ganesh - NCPA to Mickey Mehta 's Gym just before the Kemps Corner flyover is exactly 5 kms.

Major problem in Aarey is small roads, bad roads esp from the tabela downwards and too many huge trucks/ BEST buses which will interfere with the runners. If we have children and senior citizens, then definitely it is a factor. Plus for people who have not done the monster hill at Aarey it could be a huge factor. What we can do in Aarey is go upto 2.5 kms from where we normally start (which would be little after the tabela) and do two loops. We still have the hill to contend with two times.
Hi i would suggest BNP is best for 10k. There is no requirement of pass on 15th Aug on that day entry is free for all. There is minimum traffic, water facility, good trek for 10k run, beautiful nature, river view & much more.
Hi Zico,
How about Thane - The route around the Upvan Lake is really good, free from traffic and if you do TWO loops that makes it 10 Kms. There is a good space for parking as well as a small hotel. I can arrange for all the logistics - Water some refreshments etc. I know Thane will be a little far but hey it's my idea.

Regards,
Kingshuk
