For me , it was Delhi ADHM , i got a PB there , a gr8 event , gr8 organisation and loads of friends .

Worst was SCMM 2011 .

The best was undoubtedly GRM b'cos got to meet so new friends in the running community. Timingwise ADHM was better where I got my PB.

I ran only 2 races this year SCMM and Thane Marathon. Remember SCMM for good reason since it was the first race of my life and Thane Marathon for the wrong reason since I suffered ITB pain there. Hope to have many more memorable  races in 2012

for me it was the I-Race at IIT Powai on 20th August, 2011 because i ran a beautiful race - totally in control and secured my first sub-1 hour besides securing the 4th position overall. The second most memorable was the Thane half marathon in February 2011 where i secured a personal best in the half marathon lopping off a gigantic 16 minutes off my previous personal best.

Bangalore Ultra, as it was completely out of my comfort zone.

BTW Bijay, I like the very specific title of this discussion thread.

For me, it will have to be  the SCMM 2011.. I was running my first HM and despite what ever training i had undergone, it was special to cross the finish liine in decent time. I did it in 2:14:27 and was very satisfied with the way i had handled the run. I did run a notch slower than my training runs and that allowed me to finish it without any discomfort. Plus i had a calf muscle strain a few weeks before the event and i was out of running for over 2 weeks and could resume running only a week before the event. So that remains special for me!!

aaah memories! doubtless a forgettable year for me thanks to a nauseating recurring sequence of illness and injury. ironically, will most fondly remember thane HM. sustained a toe fracture 3 hours before the race while doing a customary at-home loosening up. couldn't put pressure on that foot for a long time but against wiser counsels still landed up and decided to run. absolutely struggled and walk-limped the first K, then ran thru the pain to finish in 1:46:26.

in retrospect misplaced heroics and rank stupidity; a hairline fracture  that put me out of training for nearly 3 months. but one i will nevertheless cherish very dearly.

For me 2011 will be an year when i graduated from event based preparation to consistent training.
The Bangalore World 10k was the first race this year and i broke the string of 53min finishes to lodge a 45min PB.
It instilled an amount of self believe to get faster by training consistently that i seldom knew existed
its been a breakthrough year after that race wherever I have run
:-)

This year I participated in two HM.

Thane Feb 2011 – It was my first HM, in preparation of the same, I graduated from running for fitness to running for zeal. Being first HM its very dear to me. Though timing wise it wasn’t very great, but who cares!!!.

GRM Dec 2011 was my second HM – very close to heart coz after suffering from Achilles Tendonitis, was not very sure if I can participate in the race. But thanks to medical advice and some strength training. I was back on track and completed the race as well.

Hoping to do better in 2012

I haven't run races this year due being taken seriously ill in April. However, I have run a few marathons with close friends at Aarey and one at BNP. I loved the marathon I ran at BNP with Amit and it is close to my heart. I blogged about it on RFL and called it the 'One Legged Marathon' because Amit was injured and his injury acted up during the run. He needed to complete that marathon to add up to his 12/12 series and I helped him along. The whole experience was surreal for us because extreme fatigue made us delirious towards the end. The sense of accomplishment when crossing the finish line says it all in the picture.

My most cherished run has to be my first HM in SCMM'11 because I was running after 20 years where I went from 100 m to 21,097 m and didn't give a damn about the time, as long as I finished it :)

It was seriously a leap of faith for me and it has had me hooked for the whole of last year since :)

For me it was SCMM 2011 which is my first ever official HM completed in 2:29 with not much of training. Timingwise and performance wise i will rate Goa HM the best one where i did my PB 2:10:42
