I think I probably did 1hr 07 minutes in the Sunfeast 10k last year which was my logest run ever until then. Now after one Half Ultra and 5 Half Marathons later, I did 1 Hour (could have saved a few seconds less I think if not for the traffic) last sunday.
Also things that matter are body weight, muscle etc. You should try and go mid way between the world record and your last time and this might be more realistic and train really hard for it.
Go for it and give it your best and dont forget to post us on your achievement at the end of the ordeal.

Sorry for my earlier comment. I realize you are serious..
My advice is join some running club like Nike Running Club or Runners High who are training runners for Sunfeast 10k.
Try your best in the weeks remaining. Dont set any target and just enjoy and see how it goes. Based on the improvement you achieve, you will have a fair idea of what it takes. Use this input along with the time and effort you are willing to commit to set goals for the next year.
Good luck.

Kiran, I wish you could be aware of enormity of 30 min time. I have a humble suggestion- try 3 minutes/k pace for 2 km..and then you will realize what pace you are talking about.
If your time is around 50 at present, 45 minutes will be realistic (still little ambitious) goal. Go for it!! And dont get yourself injured.
Hi Kiran,
I do agree with everyone. It's impossible to do below 30min. with 10 weeks training. I saw Haile running 10k in Madrid in 28mnts without any effort. In Madrid in almost every 10k road race we see ahletes from African countries doing these times.
Let me tell you about my progress. 7 years ago (when I was 40 ) my first 10k timing was 52mnts. I only train 2-3 times a week when I can and so far my PB is 40:20mnts. I know if I train everyday I might do just below 40 but never less than 38mnt mark. As someone mentioned before there are lot of factors involved such as age, diet, life style and training (where you train). Recently I ran Prague Marathon (a month ago) and the other day I did a 10k in 45+. No where near to my usual timings which is normally between 41-42.
So the ideal situation is aim for a mnt to cut off, every now and then. I've posted a training plan, check on that and see if you can make use of it.
