Permalink Reply by Prasad Np on October 10, 2011 at 12:33 OK, i did some R &D and it does not work on BB at all.
On my android phone once i have logged the run on imapmyron application once I put the app on hold and once I am back home i need to use my wifi to connect to website then it works and saves the details.
It does not connect to the website using the data connection of the phone only through the wifi connection.
The details are pretty ok for a free connection but you need to come back home and then upload using the wifi.
Still a better app that can connect using my data connection from phone would be better.

N

Permalink Reply by Arif Ali Saiyed on October 12, 2011 at 14:20 Hi there,
I have tried all following
Buddy Runner
Buddy track Runner
Handy Runner
Time Runner Lite
Run Keeper ( suppose to be very famous and good)
but none of them worked, none of them were able to get GPS location, all of them were telling No GPS signal , even when i was running under the sky.
All the above mentioned guys, switch off the GPS when you swich to other applicatoins or other page/tab/activity in the same itself.
Then i downloaded this app called SportyPal ( this also quite famous like RunKeeper and MapMyRun)
this app keeps GPS on all the time when app is running( even when you switch to other apps),
but after about 5 mins, it succeeds in receiving the GPS signal...
Once SportyPal got the GPS signals, i started RunKeeper also , RunKeeper also got the signal.
and both worked fine. Runkeeper was more accurate than sportypal.
The good thing about RunKeeper is , it keeps alerting you with sound that you completed 1 km, 2 km etc
and also your current pace.
so i suggest just have RunKeeper and SportyPal.
SportyPal to initialize your GPS and RunKeeper for audio alerts. but be prepared that it will drain your battery because GPS is ON all the time.
Hope this works for you guys also.

Permalink Reply by Prasad Np on October 12, 2011 at 18:58 On Android mapmyrun is working fine. Only challenge is you need to put it on hold once you complete, come back home and upload the data using wifi.
Also tried mytracks from android market. Also works well and saves without wifi.
Permalink Reply by Arif Ali Saiyed on October 12, 2011 at 23:04 Thanks Syed, I also tried ENDOMONDO , heres my experiance
Positive :
+ Keeps the GPS on all the time like sportypal, and detects the GPS location fast
+ More accurate than RunKeeper
+ Usability : very easy to use, quite handy, i like the icons and the way actvity reports are designed.
+ OnDemand( any time) : audio feedback on a just click if the headset is attached to phone.
Negative:
- audio feedback is there but not configurable , in RunKeeper its configurable , u can say alert me on every 0.25 KM and/or every 3 min
So if you are running with headset, then i guess it's better than RunKeeper.

Permalink Reply by Shyam S on October 16, 2011 at 22:32 I use MiCoach, a software from Adidas (www.micoach.com) Has apps for Blackberry, Android, iPhone etc.
Great app for outdoors using GPS. Does have a pacer option for indoors /gym usage, but I haven't used it yet.
+ves - Good GPS, easy to use user interface, Training Plans.
-ves - Plans are not fine tuned for altitude variations, so works well in reasonably flat terrains only.
