I initially hesitated to post this, as am aware you're all keyed up for the event on Sun...I registered too and got my number etc but guess what - from the past several weeks I can't run due to an IT band injury on my left knee. Yes I committed the (usual) sin - overdoing the running...the ITBS was really pronounced after the (beautiful!) farmhouse run off Kanakapura road on 22 Mar 08.
Tried some physiotherapy / stretching but it did not seem to help much. I then underwent 5 sessions of ultrasound and accupuncture. But when i tried running again a few days back (on the recommendation of that doc), it hurt slightly - I could feel the tightening & slight pain. So I stopped.
Man is this *Frustrating*. I just want to run...
Anyone else on board here had the same (similar) experience? Any hot tips?
Yes I'll be visiting the "Doc"!
Thanks,
-kaiwan.
PS> Kudos to the RFL Team on the new website - it's great and am sure will only improve!
I have lived through this frustration.
IT band injury prevented me from running for almost 1.5 years.
I tried all sort of exercises, stretches and don't think all this was of much help.
So, out of frustration I started cycling, coz my IT band would always pain while running.
During cycling also IT band had this mild pain, which I could easily bear. After about 3-4 months of cycling, I tried running for a change and wat a surprise, no signs of ITBS for a first 12 km run I did. I started running once again, but this time I was lot more cautious and eventually ran 26 km in Bangalore Ultra with podium finish :)
